Did we just read the same story?!
How is it that two readers can walk away from one story with completely different understandings of what they just experienced? This July Miss Emily and Miss Megan will be examining the art of interpretation by studying four classic fairy tales – in triplicate! First, we will read and discuss the original fairytale, in its original context. We will then look at two film adaptations of each fairy tale in order to discuss how artists can create something entirely different using the same materials as the original. Along the way, students will strengthen their own interpretive skills and learn to better identify the depth of significance that can lie behind a simple plot.
Join us for 4 sessions on Fridays at 11:00AM Eastern (8:00 AM Pacific) according to the schedule below:
July 11th: Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie; Peter Pan (1953); Hook (1991)
